Theme of the 2027 Seoul WYD – Days in the Diocese of Jeonju: Encounter

“The Youth of the Church Blossoming Through Encounter”

“May our encounters lift one another up. Through these encounters, may the Church be renewed in youth, and may the world be made new in God’s peace and love.”

[Seven Encounters]

The Days in the Diocese of Jeonju invites pilgrims to enter into a series of meaningful encounters, through which they are deeply connected with God, with one another, and with the world.

1. Encounter with Fellow Pilgrims

An encounter where young people from diverse cultures and languages come together along the WYD journey, forming one united community.

2. Encounter with the Martyrs

In the Diocese of Jeonju, a land of martyrs, pilgrims remember the witnesses of faith and are invited to continue their legacy.

3. Encounter with Korean Host Families

Through homestay experiences, pilgrims live with Korean families, sharing daily life and experiencing faith and hospitality in a real and personal way.

4. Encounter with the Universal Church

By meeting young people from around the world, pilgrims experience the universality and unity of the Church.

5. Encounter with Korean Traditional Culture

Through the unique traditions and culture of Jeonbuk State, pilgrims discover the beauty of Korea.

6. Encounter with the Beauty of Nature

Surrounded by mountains, fields, rivers, and the sea, pilgrims encounter the beauty of creation and are invited into a time of rest and reflection.

7. Encounter with Jesus Christ

In all these encounters, pilgrims are ultimately led to a deeper encounter with Jesus Christ, who walks with us and waits for us.
